On Saturday morning May 23, Mohegan firefighters attended training on the new Res-Q-Jack vehicle stabilization system. The system was purchased by the Board of Fire Commissioners at the request of Chief Joseph Mayer. The training was conducted by MTO Lieutenant Lou Barbieri and a representative from the manufacturer. Career and Volunteer firefighters had a brief classroom introduction to the system and then went to work doing practical evolutions of various scenarios. Given the number of rollovers and extrication calls handled by our department this tool should be a valuable asset to our extensive extrication and stabilization equipment. Ongoing training throughout the year is a high priority for our department and is fully supported by the career and volunteer officers.
