At 13:07 hours communications dispatched the “MVA overturned with entrapment” at Kings Highway and River Bend Dr. Wagon 2 (Schmidt) responded with four Volunteers, taking the first due Rescue assignment, do Rescue Squad 1 out of service. Chief 7 (Roberson) arrived on-scene to confirm one vehicle overturned with one patient pinned inside the vehicle and established “Kings Highway Command”. Wagon 2 arrived to find Wagon 1’s crew had begun extricating the victim with their combi–tool and Medic 11 was tending to the patient. Chief 1(Smith) arrived and was assigned the Rescue Group Leader for the incident. Wagon 2 began to stabilize the vehicle with the rescue-jacks and removed the driver’s side door to gain access to the patient to provide patient care. At this time in the incident Spotsylvania Rescue 4 arrived to provide further stabilization of the vehicle and to help with the removal of the patient due to his arm partially amputated. The victim was removed with-in 10 minutes of our arrival and the patient was flown by Life-Evac II to a trauma center. Company 2 cleared at 1409 hours.
