The Phillipsburg Emergency Squad was dispatched to a MVA roll over, pole and wires down with entrapment. The squad’s rescue team was currently out doing training for the same exact situation when the call came in. The rescue team quickly put away all tools and left the training area for the actual call. Also started today was the newly formed Southern Warren County Rescue Task Force which was also dispatched which also brought out Lopatcong Emergency Squad, Greenwich Emergency Squad, Bloomsbury Rescue Squad, and Franklin Rescue Squad. Upon arrival of Capt Dale Rodenbaugh who assumed EMS/Rescue command, advised incoming task force members to stage near Shappel Park to await instructions. The pole was severed near the base with the pole being held up by the electric wires. The vehicle had ended up on its side. After seeing that the pole was safely staying up Phillipsburg Emergency Squad’s rescue team went to work with the assistance of Franklin’s rescue team to stabilize the vehicle. Then the teams went to work and cut the roof and flapped it over to remove the victim. The victim was driven by Lopatcong Emergency Squad to the LZ and air lifted by Penn Star to St Luke’s Hospital in PA. Assisting on scene also was the Phillipsburg Fire Department. All other units were cleared while the Phillipsburg Emergency Squad stayed to assist JCP&L secure the pole and the tow company to remove the car. 033107109-A1
